30Minato Mirai 21
The name of this waterfront district means \”future harbor\”. In addition to Landmark Tower, a skyscraper with an observatory, this area is lined with shopping malls, an amusement park, museums, etc., and bustling with many people. It is also an iconic night view spot.
31Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal
This world-class terminal anchors many cruise ships from all over the world. From the rooftop plaza, which is open 24 hours a day for free, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of Yokohama’s tourist attractions. It also has shops, a restaurant and a cafe.
32Noge
In contrast to Minato Mirai, the Noge downtown area is filled with a nostalgic and cozy atmosphere. There are nearly 500 bars, izakaya taverns, and jazz clubs, where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks. Along the river, you can find unique shops on the street called \”Miyakobashi Shotengai.\”
33Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse
In the two old-fashioned red-brick buildings, there are shops, restaurants, halls, and multipurpose spaces; it is also a base for the transmission of art and culture. The buildings are lit up in the evening, wrapping the area in a warm brick color. In the plaza between them, seasonal events are regularly held.
34Yokohama Marine Tower
This symbol of Yokohama was previously used as a lighthouse. You can take in a 360° superb view from the observation floor approximately 90 meters above ground. In addition to enjoying beautiful night views and art experiences, there is an assortment of restaurants, bars, and shops.
35Yamashita Park
The park has many attractions, such as a panorama view of the ocean, monuments, a kahi (monument engraved with lyrics), and a rose garden, along with a sightseeing boat landing. Across the street, Yokohama Marine Tower rises right in front of you. The Hikawa Maru ship, built in 1930, is the only remaining cargo-passenger ship built in Japan prior to the war, and can be toured inside.
36Yokohama Chinatown
One of the world’s largest Chinatowns, with a history of 150 years. In the approximately 500 square-meter area, there are more than 500 stores, such as Chinese restaurants, Chinese grocery stores, and souvenir shops. Don’t miss the ten pailou (traditional Chinese architectural arches) built based on Feng Shui principles, the \”Kuan Ti Miao\” temple, which enshrines Guan-Yu, a god of business, and \”Yokohama Mazu Miao\” temple, which enshrines Mazu, who keeps the sea safe.
37Motomachi Shopping Street
This shopping street is known as the birthplace of Yokohama’s fashion trends. In addition to long-established brand stores, the street is lined with refined shops, encompassing fashion, jewelry, miscellaneous goods, antiques, restaurants, and cafes. In February and September of every year, a week-long large-scale sale called \”Charming Sale\” is held, attracting many people.
38Sankeien Garden
This vast Japanese-style garden was established by Sankei Hara, a businessman who made his fortune in the raw silk trade, and a well-known art lover. There are 10 important cultural properties out of the 17 historical buildings on the premises. It is also famous for its plums, cherry blossoms, lotuses, and maple trees.
39Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum
This is the world’s first ramen-themed amusement park. You can enjoy local ramen from all over Japan in a space that recreates an old-fashioned downtown area. It is popular with a wide range of people, with a ramen-making class, exhibition on the history of ramen, and more!
40Yokohama Goods 001 (Souvenirs)
Yokohama Brand is a label for certified items selected as high-quality and attractive Yokohama souvenirs by a review board held every two years. Recommended picks include Yokohama-e Bandana (ukiyo-e motif from the port-opening era), Yokohama Tenugui Series (hand towels dyed with Yokohama patterns), Yokohama Rice Snack (made with 100% Yokohama-grown rice), and the Yokohama Matabay Series featuring matcha and gyokuro tea.
